QUARTERLY MESSAGE FROM THE
Principal/Executive Director

May 2018

As we finish another quarter of our school year, I am consistently inspired by our students. As parents and guardians, please know how much the staff at East Orange Community Charter School (E.O.C.C.S) appreciates all you do. I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to come to work each day knowing that I am lucky enough to spend my day working with these wonderful students!

We continue to forge ahead in ensuring that our students are receiving the adequate educational services that we can provide. Each day brings new challenges here at East Orange Community Charter School (E.O.C.C.S.). Throughout the year we have continued to focus on our student's well being, safety, nourishment, health, and academic achievement. We have made sure that our teaching staff adheres to the teacher evaluation tools and standards Our technology, teaching tools and services have met state requirements. Also, our Social Services staff is working hard to maintain our state-approved enrollment and ensuring financial stability.

The end of the year will be here soon, and with that comes tons of fun activities that we have planned for our students such as Field Day on Friday, May 25, 2018. We will also have our Annual Scholastic Book Fair that will run May 23rd, 2018 thru May 31st, 2018 here at 99 Washington Street in our Multi-purpose room as well as online. We will have a "Parent Mingle" provided by our Social Services Department on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 and our Family Math Night on Wednesday, May 16th, 2018 provided by our Education Department to name a few activities. Some of our amazing field trips in the month of May include, "The Camden Aquarium, Camden, NJ", "The Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange, NJ", and "The Liberty Science Center, Jersey City, NJ".

Next week May 7th - May 11th is Staff & Teacher Appreciation Week. Our students are fortunate to spend each day with a very talented and dedicated group of teachers and staff. Each day I see our teachers do whatever it takes to make our students successful. Please take time when you are able to express your thanks to those who work with your child.

This is a good time to remind you to please make sure your children are getting a good night's sleep and a good breakfast each day. While this is discussed more during year-end testing, this is a good practice for every day of the school year.

I strongly believe that our students can do anything they set their minds to. This starts with them reading every day, both at home and at school. As the school year comes to an end, please remember to encourage your children to continue to read throughout the summer months.

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." -Dr. Suess
