Auxiliary Boards

Each of Northwestern Settlement’s Auxiliary Boards provide financial and hands-on support to the Settlement. Most of the Boards focus their work on specific Settlement programs, while also providing a stronger connection to the community the Settlement serves. Much like the variety of programs offered by the Settlement, there is a variety of Boards and activities to get involved in. Read about each board below to learn more.

Evanston Woman's Board

Founded in 1909

The Evanston Woman's Board was Northwestern Settlement's first board, formed in 1909. Since then, the Evanston Woman's Board has raised significant funds for the Settlement through an annual Dollar Letter appeal and supports the Settlement through its endowment.

The Evanston Woman’s Board volunteers and contributes frequently to capital projects that maintain the historic, Chicago landmark Settlement House building.

Winnetka Board

Founded in 1923

Since 1923, the Winnetka Board has provided financial and hands-on support to Northwestern Settlement in a variety of ways. Their Annual Fundraiser, Style Under the Stars, is an elegant style and fashion show that attracts hundreds of North Shore women every fall. Each May, the Summer Edition focuses on the delightful boutiques of Hubbard Woods.

There are many ways for members to get involved at the Settlement, but especially important to the Board is volunteering at Rowe Elementary School.

North Shore Board

The all-volunteer board participates in several hands-on activities including St. Patrick’s Day bingo with the Golden Agers, the Mother’s Day Gift Room for preschool and after-school children, North Shore Board Day at Camp, Thanksgiving Dinner for Settlement families, and Christmas basket packing and Adopt-A-Family during the holidays.
